Music or Literature?
Jacques spent his childhood in Austria before his younger sister Jenna was born. His whole family was of Jewish origins, which by nature valued education - he was sent to private schools and completed both primary and secondary education. He was also in a youth choir, and learned classical guitar as a child - he later taught himself jazz.
Vive la résistance
As Germany invaded France, Jean went to war and was captured. In the family’s attempt to leave Paris, Jacques, Jenna and their parents were separated.
Beginning of Resistance
Jacques started resistance with “Wax” soon after the surrender - he published underground newspapers, while “Wax” engaged in sabotage activities. Unfortunately, “Wax” was shot in October 1940.
La Chandelle
In 1941, Jacques was involved in more organised armed resistance forces. Under the name La Chandelle, he sometimes published articles in underground newspapers and sabotaged railway systems. His unit of saboteurs was discovered by the Gestapo in late 1943, and he, as the leader, was beaten and interrogated before Sigma provided false evidence. They resumed their relationship until Sigma’s death; both provided crucial information and supported the Allies’ advance in France in 1944.
Jacques has a Caucasian appearance with honey-blonde hair and an ivory skin tone. He usually ties his hair into a short ponytail and has side bangs - this helped cover his Jewish origins during the War. He has downturned eyes as green as emerald gems. He does not have the habit of growing beards.
Jacques is very fond of French jazz since his teenage years. He managed to keep one of his family’s old gramophone after the War, which he usually uses to listen to both Impressionistic piano music and French jazz.
Because of family and environmental influences, he is a very good writer. He is a quiet person, who often ponders abstract philosophical questions and keeps his thoughts in a leather notebook. As he falls for Sigma, the notes become more romantic and expressive. After the War, he became a freelance writer, and is also compiling Sigma’s biography after finding his diary.
